It may not have generated the kind of publicity that now surrounds all things artificial intelligence (AI), but the Apple headset, which is set to launch in just days at the WWDC, is still managing to create some space for itself. While that is nowhere near comparable to what Apple Watch created a decade ago when it was launched, the AR/VR headset is expected to make some difference in the Apple ecosystem.

However, for that to happen, it would have to beat the product, which is not very popular, launched by Meta Platforms hands down called Meta Quest.

Now, ahead of WWDC 2023, here is an opportunity to take a sneak peek at the Apple AR/VR headset as its 3D renders have just been put online. But remember, it is a concept and not anything based on reality.

Before that, know that the headset is definitely going to be launched during the event and that it will not come cheap. The rumoured price is $3000.

9to5Mac’s Ian Zelbo has taken what all has been rumoured about it and outlined it all in 3D renders. He says he is expecting an aluminium frame along with a curved glass. What that adds up to is a design that looks like ski goggles, very fancy ones at that. Zelbo says that the straps look remarkably similar to the Apple Watch.

Borrowing from various leaks, the report says that talk of 2 physical buttons appeals to him and these have been added to the renders. Their purpose is to switch between AR and VR views while the second one will likely be for flitting between various software features.

If it is a headset, then it must have cameras too – everywhere. And that too looking inward at the user and outside too. These will likely be hidden behind the glass panel. Whether or not it will show the user’s face is still unclear. The inward looking may well be to monitor the user’s eye movements.

Now for some old tech. The goggles will not pack any battery inside it and instead, the user will have to “wear a battery pack,” says the 9to5Mac report.

The business end of the Apple headset, its display, has been covered by analyst Ross Young who said they would likely be Micro OLED, 1.4 inch, with 5k brightness.

Widgets: Since the launch of the first Apple Watch in 2015, there have been little to no changes to the watchOS interface. But that is set to change with watchOS 10 as Apple will reportedly introduce widgets. Gurman claims that widgets will be comparable to the Glances that were part of earlier watchOS versions and although it will be “reminiscent” of the Siri watch face, it will work with any Apple Watch face.

Home screen layout: According to an anonymous leaker on Twitter known only as @analyst941, Apple could introduce a new home screen layout with the watchOS 10 update. The leaker claims that the new layout will be easier to navigate and could bring iOS-like characteristics including folders for apps.

Once you tap on that link, you can lose control of your Facebook account.

As per the cybersecurity firm DataProt, this scam known as the “Look who died” scam is presently circulating across Facebook. Similar to other phishing scams, this particular tactic exploits a sense of urgency to create the curiosity of users on the social media platform. How does this Facebook scam work?

Facebook is a place where we keep sharing sensitive data such as photos and Messenger chats and even many of us use it for shopping. Needless to say, it has stored a lot of personal information about us. This is the reason why hackers are aiming to gain access to your Facebook account via the “Look who died” scam. The scam works by sending the victim a malicious link accompanied by the message “Look who died.” Frequently, this message is transmitted from a previously infected friend’s profile.

When you click the link and enter their Facebook login details, the individual unknowingly falls victim to both username and password theft, while also opening up their device to malware attacks. Later, the compromised profile memorializes the dissemination of the same link and message, all without the account owner’s awareness.

• After changing the password, report this scam to Facebook.

• Also, make sure to turn on two-factor authentication.
• Not just Facebook, but change your email password too and scan your device with anti-malware software

Today’s NASA Astronomy Picture of the Day is a snapshot of Cassiopeia A, a supernova remnant located about 11000 light-years from Earth towards the constellation of Cassiopeia. When a star explodes, the subsequent explosion which takes place, known as a Supernova, is the largest explosion to occur in space. According to NASA, a supernova happens when there is a change in the core, or center, of a star. A change can occur in two different ways, with both resulting in a supernova.

Although a supernova occurs for only a short span of time, it can tell scientists a lot about the universe. By studying supernovas, scientists have also shed light on the fact that we’re living in an ever-expanding universe.

Tech used to capture the image

The picture was captured by the Chandra X-ray Observatory and Hubble Space Telescope. Launched in 1999, the Chandra X-ray Observatory is a telescope specially designed to detect X-ray emissions from very hot regions of the Universe with the help of four sensitive mirrors.

On the other hand, the Hubble Space Telescope is run by NASA and ESA in collaboration. Hubble has advanced optical instruments such as the Advanced Camera for Surveys and Wide Field Camera 3. The Advanced Camera for Surveys (ACS) was primarily designed to survey large areas of the sky at visible and red wavelengths with 10 times greater efficiency than the earlier premier Hubble camera.

Massive stars in our Milky Way Galaxy live spectacular lives. Collapsing from vast cosmic clouds, their nuclear furnaces ignite and create heavy elements in their cores. After a few million years, the enriched material is blasted back into interstellar space where star formation can begin anew. The expanding debris cloud known as Cassiopeia A is an example of this final phase of the stellar life cycle. Light from the explosion which created this supernova remnant would have been first seen in planet Earth’s sky about 350 years ago, although it took that light about 11,000 years to reach us.

This false-color image, composed of X-ray and optical image data from the Chandra X-ray Observatory and Hubble Space Telescope, shows the still hot filaments and knots in the remnant. It spans about 30 light-years at the estimated distance of Cassiopeia A. High-energy X-ray emission from specific elements has been color coded, silicon in red, sulfur in yellow, calcium in green and iron in purple, to help astronomers explore the recycling of our galaxy’s star stuff. Still expanding, the outer blast wave is seen in blue hues. The bright speck near the center is a neutron star, the incredibly dense, collapsed remains of the massive stellar core.

Yesterday, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) revealed that despite the active sunspot AR3315 beginning to decay, it could trigger a solar storm on Earth. And just a day later, satellites pick up solar winds that were possibly released from the activity on the sunspot and are likely going to spark a solar storm on Earth tomorrow, June 2. The solar storm is not expected to be a major one, but it can still disrupt wireless communications and cause a radio blackout. Check the details.

As per a report by SpaceWeather.com, “NOAA forecasters say that minor G1-class geomagnetic storms are possible on June 2nd when a stream of solar wind is expected to hit Earth’s magnetic field”. There is a suspicion that the gaseous material is likely flowing out from a pair of holes in the Sun’s atmosphere. It is not known whether the sunspot is directly involved in this.

Solar storm expected tomorrow

Solar winds are not very unlike a CME cloud, which is majorly responsible for solar storms on Earth. The main difference between the two is the intensity of charged particles. Since solar winds are a stream of charged particles released from the upper atmosphere of the Sun,2 they contain relatively less amount of charged particles than coronal mass ejections, which are taken from the surface of the Sun.

However, they are still capable of triggering minor to moderate storms. Such solar storms may not be strong enough to affect mobile networks or damage satellites, they can still cause radio blackouts and disrupt GPS signals. And things can be worsened if these solar winds pick up a CME on their way and combine with it to spark terrifying solar storms.

The NASA Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) carries a full suite of instruments to observe the Sun and has been doing so since 2010. It uses three very crucial instruments to collect data from various solar activities. They include Helioseismic and Magnetic Imager (HMI) which takes high-resolution measurements of the longitudinal and vector magnetic field over the entire visible solar disk, Extreme Ultraviolet Variability Experiment (EVE) which measures the Sun’s extreme ultraviolet irradiance and Atmospheric Imaging Assembly (AIA) which provides continuous full-disk observations of the solar chromosphere and corona in seven extreme ultraviolet (EUV) channels.
